The Blue Wind
by Dan Wilcox
“The blue & the wind, the blue wind”
- Nadja by André Breton
The Caffè door opened in a blue
wind of her fear, desperation
seeking a ticket to run —
That breeze
carried her away to Sufi hills
in borrowed coat & brewery
watch cap, a shawl & hoodie
abandoned to the week’s rain
in a box under the Main Street bench
all else carried in tote bags with
delusions & paranoia, but, alas
no recollections, no panties
(“don’t wear ‘em”), no car keys —
trinkets & ephemera tucked away
or forgotten, a room key (#6),
lotus necklace, notes of gratitude
joy & self sex denied, silent
singing bowls, empty cafe tables
in her blue wind of vanishing.
